Discover Omeo Mountain Bike Park – Victoria’s Premier MTB Destination

A Park Built on Passion and Community

Omeo Mountain Bike Park is more than just a top-tier riding destination — it’s the result of a passionate community effort to transform the historic town of Omeo, Victoria, into a hub for adventure tourism. Developed as part of a regional revitalization initiative, the park was designed to highlight the area's stunning natural assets and encourage sustainable tourism in East Gippsland.

Construction of the park began in the early 2020s with support from local mountain biking enthusiasts, the East Gippsland Shire Council, and regional development grants, both state and federal. The goal was to create a world-class network of mountain bike trails that would attract riders from across Victoria and beyond, while boosting local businesses and preserving Omeo’s rich cultural heritage.

Since opening stage one in December 2024, Omeo Mountain Bike Park has rapidly grown into one of Australia’s top mountain biking destinations, blending thrilling rides with breathtaking alpine scenery and a strong sense of local pride.

Trail Name Origins – Omeo MTB Park

What's in a name? Many of our trail names are linked to our mining and farming heritage however, we have a few special names worthy of the back storey.

Log Slide

This trail takes its name from the historic log slide once used during early forestry operations on Mt Mesley. In the days before mechanised transport, large logs were hauled down the slopes using steep chutes or "slides," allowing them to be transported to nearby mills. The Log Slide trail honours this rugged part of the mountain’s working past and offers a thrilling descent echoing the path of timber once moved by human and animal strength.

Green Sheep

Named by the imaginative students of the local Omeo Primary School, Green Sheep is a playful nod to the children's creativity and of course the famous book "Where is the Green Sheep". The name adds a touch of whimsy to the trail network, inviting riders of all ages to enjoy the outdoors with a sense of fun and curiosity — much like the kids who named it.

Twisted Tree

This trail is named after a distinctive, twisted Snow Gum that once stood near town on the slopes of Mt Mesley. For years, it served as a natural playground and meeting spot for local school kids, its gnarled branches providing the perfect climbing challenge. Sadly, the tree was lost during the devastating bushfires of 2002–03, but its memory lives on in this trail, reminding visitors of both the resilience of the mountain and the childhoods shaped under its canopy.

Miss Adventure

This trail celebrates the spirit and skill of the all-female trail building crew who brought it to life. “Miss Adventure” is a playful tribute to the adventurous, capable women who carved this path into the mountain with dedication and precision. It stands as a symbol of inclusion and the growing role of women in outdoor sports and trail stewardship.
